Our Pitch

Below is the video of us doing our pitch for our music promo.

Presentation

Below is the presentation we prepared to use in our pitch.

Script

Below is the script we prepared to use in our presentation.

Introduction

Jess: I am Jessica and my main production roles are Editor, Casting Director and Photographer
Elizabeth: I am Elizabeth and my main production roles are Mise-en-scene Director, Set Designer and Shot List Designer
Mia: I am Mia and my main production roles are Cinematographer, Lighting Director and Director. And together we are…

All: JEM PRODUCTIONS!

Mia: Our aim is to create a memorable and original music video to brand a new artist: Andrea Storm Kaden. Her debut single is called ‘Ink Settles In’ and we will play the beginning of it for you now:

(Song plays)

Concept

Elizabeth: We think that the song is about a breakup and heartbreak, but we do not want to show this in a conventional way. Instead, using the lyrics ‘As the ink settles in’ we are going to create a video in the amplification category.

We are going to show a number of montage shots that represent the lyrics, by using a lot of paint (which is similar to ink). We shall have love items (picture of love items) and slowly cover them in paint, like the ink is settling in.

As for the performance we are going to have our actress mime the song in a date-like setting. Then as the song goes on she becomes more angry so we will have the actress begin to mess up the set and have paint thrown at her- the ink setting in!

Target Audience

Mia: The song is about the heartbreak of a young woman therefore we will ensure that it will be appealing to young women. People tend to relate to those who have things like gender and age in common with them. In addition, people can empathise with others that have experienced similar things. Therefore people who have felt angry from heartbreak could feel that this song speaks to them, so we have ensured that through our research we find out what conventions appeal to these people.

(Talks through a picture)

Image

Jess: The image we have decided we want the actress that will be in our music promo will have a look that would represent the genre of the song, and also the stereotypical theme we have. Beth has dressed up today on how the actress will look. Her hair is in a ‘messy bun’ this is what we thought is what a girl would do when she is upset and doesn’t want to make an effort in her appearance. The actress will also wear a white dress, this is to represent that she has a sense of purity about her; we also decided that we would choose white because anything that could go onto it or damage the colouring or the dress will show up easily. Like her emotions that are showing through the video.

Digipak

(Gives out sketch of digipak)

Mia: Here are a couple of sketches of digipaks we have come up with. We have looked at digipaks of the genre indie pop and used similar conventions, for example the layout of the track names on the back, the consistent style and a theme that links to one of the more well-known songs on the album.

Magazine advert

Jess:  For our magazine advert we have decided that we are going to use the splashes of colour because of the idea we have for our music video where we are going to have a lot of different coloured paint also. On the advert we are going to have snips of quotes and opinions of the album from different companies. We are also going to have a small list of featuring songs that they can find on the album and mainly the album title.

Plans for the future

Elizabeth: We really believe that our artist could go global. She is already poplar in Australia, as this is where she is from and we have no dough that she will be in the UK. We think that teenage girls all around the world will find Andrea relatable, as everyone does experience heartbreak at some point during their life.  Though social media she can build a good reputation for herself and build an even bigger audience. As there is always heartbreak, there will always being an audience for Andrea. Thank you very much for listing.
